Our Story
2018
Pastor John and Tobey lost their second oldest son, Josh due to a four-year health battle from a serious car accident.
This caused John to take a leave of absence from his church and ultimately step down as his family was healing.

2020
Only weeks before the COVID epidemic, a 16-person launch team consisting of Pastor John, his family, and some close friends met in the Hutto Holiday Inn Express for our first official gathering.
Less than two months later, COVID caused us to stop meeting in person. John never wavered! He jumped online and continued his Biblical sermons through social media platforms.
When COVID restrictions were lifted, we were Blessed to be able to meet in a beautiful venue at 111 East in Hutto.
2023
Our church became official!
We voted on our bylaws, added our first Deacons as well as life groups for Young Married and Young Adults. God continued to bring new families and talented musicians into our small community.
Grace Baptist also sent out our first missionaries overseas that we support through prayer and financial support.
2019
Ten months after Josh’s passing, John was asked to be a guest speaker for a young adult ministry. That evening John told his story of loss, doubt, pain, and healing.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house! After that evening God rekindled the passion of ministry and called John to start a church.
John had already planted one church and was excited for the opportunity to do so closer to his hometown.
John said, “These people will need gospel-centered churches to extend the grace of Jesus to them. Our hope is to enlist the help of kingdom-minded Christians and churches to establish a Baptist church in this growing community.”
With this in mind, Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown agreed to partner with us, acting as our sponsor and prayer partner in a new Hutto church plant.

2021–2022
Our church continued to grow and add Life Groups, Men’s & Women’s ministries, events, monthly church lunches and more. It was a sweet time of community and fellowship. We continued to see God’s blessing in so many areas while the nation was still figuring out the new normal.

Today
John is called to boldly preach the Gospel of Christ. We are passionate about the Word of God and want to share His truth to a lost and dying world. We believe God has called us to speak truth in love and extend His grace to those around us. Grace Baptist is known for our welcoming presence, hospitality and love for people.
